About Yours Truly

I have to admit. I find this quite hilarious. I used to mock the idea of having a personal blog. Isn’t that the height of self-indulgence? Does anyone really care about what I have to say? Well, I didn’t think so. Like most people, I think I live a very ordinary single girl life in our nation’s capital. I have a job, I have friends, I go out, I see people – seriously, not a whole lot to talk about.

However, over the past year or so, I’ve realized that I almost have a knack for getting in ridiculous, often hilarious, situations, or at least making a ho hum situation sound hilarious – bad dates, good dates, awkward run ins, foot in mouth disease – you name it, I’ve been there, and I usually like to write about it in a self deprecating email to a few close friends. I never thought anything of it, until suddenly, more and more people started saying, “You should start a blog.” Ha, yeah right, I don’t do blogs. I don’t even have a basement. Do I look like a blogger? Um, no.

I’m not quite sure when it went from being a bad idea to a good idea, but for the past month or so, I’ve been trying to think of a “concept” – something to tie up everything into a neat little blog idea. Politics? Eh, does the world really need another political blog? Fashion? Yawn. A Dating Blog? Too Carrie Bradshaw. Southern Girl in the City? Been done. I finally decided to take the plunge when my mentor/surrogate big sister called me after I sent her a witty email regarding my dating prospects and said, “Stop over thinking this and just do it. Just start writing.”

So, I’ve started writing. What will this be, I do not know. What I do know is that I hope to send a daily postcard from my twenty something life – all 460 square feet of it (that’s the size of my studio). Some may be more exciting than others, but I certainly hope you’ll come back and visit.
